Will you do your morning and evening skincare routine?

I love your videos, you’re seriously so cool. Could you maybe do a video telling us HOW to use those ingredients and the products you use. Maybe even a daytime/nighttime skincare routine video!

Could you do a video on the bad ingredients to avoid in skincare? I.e. on the ingredients list for people to look out for.

I would avoid trans-resveratrol, as it has been shown to have estrogenic actions (see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC28446/), as does red wine. Being a 55-year-old menopausal woman, this is certainly of interest to me, and large longitudinal studies need to be carried out before I’m convinced of its safety when used regularly. As for azelaic acid, this is only available on prescription in many countries, such as Canada, and many companies include amounts that are too high (e.g. The Ordinary). When it comes to acids like lactic acid, I’d advise people to start with low concentrations. Again, companies like The Ordinary also sell one with a very high amount, which for many people may be too strong to start off with. Whilst zinc oxide is important against the ageing affects of the sun, many chemical sunscreens in the UK, where I’m from, contain filters that are great for this, such as La Roche Posay’s Anthelios Shaka SPF 50+. Your advice is great, and I enjoy watching your pH tests of viewers’ favourite skincare products. I’m also interested in your studies into breadfruit, or rather its flowers (of which there are different types, as you probably know) and how its properties may benefit the skin. I just came back from Bali and ate it there a few times, although I much prefer jackfruit, which is from the same family. Coming back to topical applications and the dangers of some actives being taken into the bloodstream, this is the case for many applications; they are transdermal and can enter the bloodstream via the capillaries. Nicotine patches, HRT patches, etc. are good examples. This is a very effective method of delivery. Even long-term use of Retin A used regularly can cause liver damage. We are seeing a lot more potent chemicals being used these days, which means more studies are needed that aren’t funded by the industry.

Hi Kenna. Thank you for creating informative videos. Could you please make a video about natural&organic skincare products? Recently I decided to use only natural&organic skincare products but after watching some videos about them I got confused. Is it just a marketing ploy? Are those natural&organic skincare products thoroughly regulated? And can we trust all these “natural” or “organic” certification labels on the products?

Please do a review/opinion video on The Ordinary and make a suggested skincare regimen of their products! I love their skincare line but it is kinda intimidating to navigate without an extensive knowledge of skin chemistry.
