I absolutely love alpha skincare intensive Renewal Serum (contains 14% Glycolic Acid). I use it 3 times a week and it makes a huge difference to my skin, even just overnight as far as my hyperpigmentation. Within 3 weeks there has been a drastic improvement to the point I have moved from full coverage foundations to low – medium coverage foundations. My hyperpigmentation is on my nose and down one side of my face in particular (yep. .drivers side) and I swear by this stuff. It’s also pretty reasonably priced and doesn’t sting like heck. It’s under $20. Also seems to prevent my hormonal acne which keeps me happy!
It may have stung the first couple of times using it, I can’t remember, but I have very sensitive skin and it adjusted to it pretty quickly. It’s one I would recommend.

I’ve not tried any of the drunk Elephant line as it’s pretty expensive, but I also enjoy using rosehip seed oil at night too.

I use the life-flo brand off Amazon as it’s my favorite. I’ve tried other brands but have not enjoyed them as much as this one. It’s cold pressed and Organic and under $10.

As always, I loved watching your video. Keep up the great work!! 🙂

I’m so glad you recommended lotion PS50 & posted a link 4 purchase. It is amazing!!! My skin feels totally different from using this short time. I found this link & it was very helpful. Lots of good advice in the comments as well. I was wondering about using with retinols, plus I love Gothamista here on youtube.

My skincare is probably 90% Korean products. I get my recommendations from “Gothamista”’here on YouTube. I’m with you when it comes to cleansers. As long as it doesn’t dry me out I’ll use the less expensive stuff. And the Glycolic Eye Cream—NOPE! I tried that and it burned the mess out of my under-eyes. I’m talking skin peeling and red and angry for a few days after 2 uses. My skin is so stinkin sensitive it’s really annoying.

Great products! I would love for you to continue your skincare updates. I actually spend more $/effort on skincare than makeup. I get a good bit of my skincare from a few shops on Etsy/independent shops. One of my faves is called Chikyu. You should really check out their shop (not affiliated, lol). One of their cleansers that may interest you is the Rice/Pearl Cleanser. There’s an option to add bamboo fiber for exfoliation, but I get mine w/o. I get my own ground walnut shells and add a little to my cleansers when I feel the need to. Here’s the link to their shop… If you ever want me to tell you what all I like a lot, let me know.
    Thanks for the update, loveee🍃🌸.

Shelly can you recommend some drug store products for me. I have the same issues as you but I just can’t afford some of the products you mentioned. Am I kidding myself that there are even any drug store products that can get the job done?

  6. Lia Faile

Have you tried any Mad Hippie skincare products?

  7. Margaret Merrick

I use the ELF hydrating essence after my pixie glycolic toner in the morning. If you go check out Renee on YouTube @Gothamista, she does skincare galore videos! She has tested a lot of skincare, k-beauty and natural, etc. She suggested a few different elf products during her affordable skincare recommendations. Check her out, I have learned a lot from her!

Here I am super jealous of your pain as you endure the Tart Knockout. Canada laws against high acid percentages in skincare are far FAR too uptight. I want that pain too damnit!

  9. OnlytheFairest

Haha you are so funny and cute!! I’ve been meaning to tell you this but skincare should never be painful. You do a lot of exfoliating, both manual and chemical. In my experience, that can cause problems in the long run, such as moisture barrier breakdown. I know i’m not an expert in any way, but maybe you should try removing 1 or 2 exfoliating steps and definitely stop using the Tarte toner. On another note, have you tried using the Ordinary Marula oil? It’s very high quality for a great price! As always, i love your channel and your videos!! ❤ Amber

Shelly- skincare should never hurt. If it does, it’s actually a sign that the product is irritating your skin- not helping it. The Tarte knockout has several skin sensitizing ingredients (this is a bad thing). They are the reason you are experiencing pain. I would recommend you stop using this product.

LOVE your PM skincare routine Shelly! LOL I feel ya about the cleanser scam…totally agree. One that has gotten my attention tho, is the Kate Summerville Exfolikate cleanser followed up with the Exfolikate treatment. DUDE!!! a must try, just get some samples and try that combo I think you’d love it

  12. Angela Homicz

I’m excited to see your journey on fading hyperpigmentation. Question about the Tarte toner: how do you know if you’re having an allergic reaction/sensitivity to a product that burns? I just got the Tula 10% glycolic gel and my face was red and burning for quite a while. I have been using Cosrx and Pixi AHA for two years with no problems, but they are a smaller %.
